Gymnastics Class Descriptions
IGUANAS AND YOU (12 Months -3 YEARS OLD)
This program introduces young children to gymnastics alongside their parent. Body awareness and balance will be developed through an "obstacle course" arrangement of mats, foam inclines, barrels, steps and mini-equipment. One parent is required to attend class with the child.
IGUANAS (4-5 YEARS OLD)
This class is for the child who loves to jump, roll, and climb. Children will be introduced to the junior bar, beam, vault, and tumbling exercises. Body awareness and balance will be further developed through an "obstacle course" arrangement of mats. Parents do not attend this class.
YOUNG BEGINNERS (5-6 YEARS OLD)
This class is an entry-level class and is also meant to be a bridge to move from our preschool program to our school-age program for young girls. These classes further develop gymnastics skills by introducing standard gymnastics equipment: Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor as well as incorporating more flexibility & strength exercises.
BEGINNER GYMNASTICS (7 AND UP, BOYS AND GIRLS)
This is one of our entry-level classes. It is designed to teach beginner level gymnastics skills on all the standard events. Children develop body awareness, control, balance, flexibility, and strength.
Young super Beginners (5-6) & SUPER BEGINNERS (7 AND UP, BOYS AND GIRLS)
This class is designed to further advance a students beginner level skills. The gymnasts continue to work on flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination on each of the events, as well as learning new skills.
INTERMEDIATE GYMNASTICS (7 AND UP, GIRLS)
This class is designed for students who already possess basic gymnastics skills and are ready to move on to more challenging skills such as (FLOOR) walkovers, front and back handsprings, (BARS) glide swings, tap swing, and (BEAM) roundoff dismounts.
ADVANCED GYMNASTICS (7 AND UP, GIRLS)
This class is designed to develop advanced body awareness, body control, and balance, and to further build strength and flexibility. This class teaches more challenging skills by building on skills learned in intermediate gymnastics.
